pallet shelf what we built the rebuilder’s source what we built
1. The raw material: pallets, pallets and more pallets
2. A pallet in its natural state
3. Modifying pallets: pulling off slats from the bottom to fill gaps on top
4. A modified pallet
5. Measuring drill holes in the cleat.
6. The cleat -- measured, marked and bolted
7. The first posts
8. Getting there
10. Teamwork
9. Leveling and bolting beams, one at a time
12. Salvaged sinks, vanities and toilets for sale -- cheap!
11. The shelf surface: a quilt of modified pallets
The challenge: ReBuilders Source needed a way to organize and display various types of salvaged construction materials.  In the spirit of re-use, they wanted the shelving unit to be constructed from discarded pallets.

The solution: We built a frame along the wall to hold a series of pallets.  Meanwhile, we modified the pallets to eliminate the gaps between the slats.  The result was a 30-foot-long shelf whose surface was a solid quilt of modified pallets.
